this comic is awesome, but well hidden

Reply Ilyana (Guest), December 12th, 2012, 9:12 pm first I was reminded of Wee Free Men (where the trees in fairyland just don't bother to look too real unless you're paying attention), but this is a really interesting take. THIS COMIC JUST GETS MORE INTRIGUING EVERY PAGE.

Not sure if he means nothing is stronger than the trees or if something in this world is called "nothing" and THAT is in fact stronger than the trees...

Reply basia122, December 12th, 2012, 9:33 pm

Since they're talking about trees, at the beginning of the comic RGB said that the "trees were sleeping". If trees are thoughts does that mean they were passing by dreams? O.o

Reply GabrielsThoughts, December 12th, 2012, 10:19 pm

I respectfully disagree that there is nothing stronger than the trees... after all, there is water, wind, fire, earth, space, and gravity. All the aforementioned things seem just as wild and indomitable as the trees.

And, I might add, metacognative meaning within meaning nonsense (while spellbinding and great for exposition) is often a thing of superficial substance and depth. In short, praise is forthcoming but not entirely specific.

the slow dialogue in this comic has really turned me off...
It's like you're trying to expand on the strange forces of this world and show us all this cool, mysterious stuff, but at the same time you're making it too nebulous to gather anything by covering it all up with this 'charming' character speaking in short, cheap little blurbs.
It was a good strategy to draw interest in at first, but it feels like it's dragged on for too long.

Think of it like film noir. The title is related to telling a story within a story and time itself has become a nebulous thing. A chronotope as it were. A flashback is forthcoming to break up the monotony. The story hasn't exactly come to a head. The pacing will become absolutely brilliant durring the archive trawl.

@GabrielsThoughts: I think the moral is more in the direction of "Nothing is stronger than a thought".

Mr R's design is so pretty!

Reply Galior (Guest), December 17th, 2012, 1:41 am

Mr R is kind of... scaring. With those eyes, and that... smiling, gloomy mouth.
Made me think of Fullmetal Alchemist, by the way.
I think I like him =)

@GabrielsThoughts: Mmm, but are you thinking of regular trees and how all that stuff might be stronger than they are? Remember, these are stuff trees. The power of stuff is compelling indeed.

And I'm thinking it's going to be along the lines of Nothing is stronger than the trees, because somehow just that one-word answer makes me think of THE Nothing from Neverending Story. Which would be stronger than Stuff because it eats all of it.

For a second there I thought... 'hey, that looks like one of Sulfurspoon's characters' and THEN IT WAS OMG
...that doesn't bode well for what they're going to meet along this road though, considering what Mr R. is memorable for...

Zalgo no go back to creepypasta

Reply Dezzy14, January 11th, 2015, 9:08 am

I think that 'Nothing' is a concept that is stronger than 'Stuff'
